Three Little Birds

Story of 3 little birds and one who soared above us all.

Stage 1- Success!

5 months old,  surgery #5. This time, everything went as planned with no complications or surprises and our little fighter is puling through like a champ. This is stage 1 of the esophagus repair and involved putting traction sutures on the lower part of the esophagus to help it grow daily for the next 10-14 days before connecting the two ends. Dr. Foker who developed the Foker technique that Boston is using flew in for her surgery today to help with Dr. Jennings. Surgery was approx 4 hrs ad she’s doing great in the NICU. They will keep her on the ventilator (so far no oscillator and blood gases looking good!) and in a medical coma with sedatives, pain meds, and paralytics until the next surgery. We’ve been warned we could run into some bumps such as the traction sutures coming out, or needing to grow the upper esophagus which would involve yet another surgery but we’re staying focused on the end result – eating through her mouth! Thanks for all the prayers, love and support. We still have a ways to go, but are one step closer…
