In at 8, out at 3:00. Lydia put in a full work day being tough. It took 2 hrs in the beginning just to get her an arterial line, but then she did as well as to be expected after that. They basically internalized her upper spit fistula making it back into a pouch so that they can put it on traction sutures next time and reattached the sutures again to her lower esophagus which is looking thicker and healthy. A long day to seemingly not be that many steps ahead, but I guess we’ll take what we can get. As for the whole tracheotomy issue, Dr. Jennings said he’s not a fan and it would mainly be an emergent airway but said I shouldn’t worry about it just yet. So I guess I’ll just wait and see if she really needs it before worrying about it any more. She’s sadly looking a bit like the Michelan tire baby at the moment, so we’ll save the photos for the smile we’re waiting for.
