2 steps back, 1 step forward
Lydia is out of the OR and back in the CICU. She tolerated the surgery well without any complications. They placed both ends of the esophagus back on traction and Dr. Jennings is not sure how much ground we lost the past couple of days but feels like we’ll be able to get it back soon. He is hopeful she’ll be able to have a connection in the next couple weeks. I also talked to her CICU attending and once again they feel with her risky airway, she would benefit from having a tracheotomy. I agree and think she would be able to recover quicker from her surgeries too and not have to be as sedated. We’re not sure when the timing of that will be but possibly next week. Now she just has to rest up and grow her little esophagus the rest of the way.
